Sid Miller, the head of the Texas Department of Agriculture, has banned his employees from dressing in a manner deemed inconsistent with their biological gender.
The policy is the latest move in an onslaught of legislative proposals and policy changes by Texas Republicans aimed at restricting LGBTQ rights in the Lone Star State.
In an April 13 memorandum obtained by the Texas Observer entitled “Texas Department of Agriculture Dress Code and Grooming Policy,” Miller informs employees that they are now “expected to comply with this dress code in a manner consistent with their biological gender,” the Observer’s Kit O’Connell reported Monday.
