Poll: Most Americans ‘very’ concerned over media’s election night coverage – By Karah Rucker (Straight Arrow News) / May 8, 2024
For the media, Election Day is one of the most popular days for reporting. News outlets often plan for it months, even years, in advance. However, a new Associated Press poll found most Americans don’t trust the media to do its job properly on its biggest night of the year.
The poll shows that 53% of Americans are “extremely” or “very concerned” that news organizations will report misinformation or inaccurate results during the election. Meanwhile, 30% reported being “somewhat concerned.”
About 47% of Americans also believe news outlets won’t verify or fact-check information before airing it. Another 44% believe the news outlets will be biased in how they announce results on Nov. 5.
Only one in 10 said “they have a great deal of confidence” in the media on election night.
