Mike Huckabee on Wednesday slammed “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski for attacking his daughter, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying she “deserves better from other women.”
Brzezinski on Wednesday said she was dismayed that Sanders defended President Donald Trump for sending a tweet some thought contained a sexual double entendre.
Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and GOP presidential contender, said Brezinski was out of of bounds.
“She deserves better from other women and it just amazes me that even the women who say they are feminists are doing everything they can to discredit my daughter,” Mike Huckabee said Wednesday evening on Fox News. “My daughter stands strong and tough and walks into that lions den of a press room every day and represents women and represents the president and represents strength in an incredible way.”
Brzezinski was following up on her plea from the day before for women in the White House to stand up to Trump for a tweet that he sent out that attacked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).
On Tuesday, Trump called Gillibrand a “light weight” and wrote in parentheses that she “would do anything” for campaign contributions. Many women, including Democratic elected officials, took that statement to be a sexual innuendo. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) called it “slut shaming.”
In a blistering attack on first lady Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, women in the White House and Trump staffers in general, Brzezinski said they all failed to call out Trump for the sexual harassment contained in the tweet and have further failed to create an environment conducive to progress for women.
“Sarah Huckabee Sanders, I feel sorry for you,” Brzezinski said on “Morning Joe” Wednesday morning, “I started a hashtag ‘Support for Sarah’ and ‘get your mind out of the gutter’ in your quest for truth, in quest for goodness, in your quest for love country, because you haven’t made it there yet.”
Sanders has defended Trump and argued that someone’s mind had to be “in the gutter” to read a sexual connotation into the tweet.
Instead, Sanders said that the tweet was in keeping with Trump’s slamming of politicians, both men and women, for cozying up to big donors.

PB/TK – WH Pressers have been a circus for the longest time and it’s the Press Sec who sets the tone. Sanders mirrors her boss, when she walks in the Press Corps gets a chill up there spines. I don’t want to use the word “bulldoggish” but she’s a tough act and like her boss, her attempts of levity fall flat. I give Sanders lots of credit, she’s really good at her job and she conducts the Q&A dance of those in attendance better then anyone in the past 20 years of that thankless job it is.
