Pentagon, diplomats to help drum up arms sales: report – By Mallory Shelbourne (thehill.com) / Jan 8 2018
President Trump will reportedly unveil a new proposal that asks U.S. diplomats and military attachés to provide additional support to increase American arms sales.
According to Reuters, Trump as soon as February may reveal a “whole of government” approach to reduce export regulations placed on countries that buy American-made weapons such as drones, artillery and fighter jets.
A senior official in the Trump administration told the news service that the approach could help bring jobs to the U.S.
“We want to see those guys, the commercial and military attachés, unfettered to be salesmen for this stuff, to be promoters,” the official said.
An official with the State Department, meanwhile, said the new strategy “gives our partners a greater capacity to help share the burden of international security, benefits the defense industrial base and will provide more good jobs for American workers.”

PB/TK – so to help the job market we’re gonna lax on our policies and sell weapons like it’s Happy Hour on QVC? Who do we blame when those weapons get turned against us years done the road because it’s starting to feel like the 80’s all over again.
