Pence posts, then deletes, tweet with photo of Trump campaign staffers not wearing masks or distancing – By William Cummings (USA Today) / June 12 2020

Vice President Mike Pence deleted a tweet he posted on Wednesday night that featured an image of himself addressing a group of Trump campaign staffers who were crowded together but not following the social distancing measures recommended by the White House coronavirus task force, which the vice president leads.

“Stopped by to see the great men and women of the Trump-Pence Team today! Thank you for all of the hard work, keep it up!” the tweet read, according to multiple screen grabs of the post that were shared on social media.

At least 70 people could be seen in the photo. None of them appeared to be wearing masks and none appeared to be maintaining the six feet of distance recommended in the White House and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for preventing the spread of the virus.

CBS News reported the photo was taken Wednesday at Trump Campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

Arlington County prosecutor Parisa Dehghani-Tafti, a Democrat, said in a statement that the photo “marked a failure to model the very public health measures the vice president’s own task force recommended, and a failure to show support for the sacrifices the Arlington community has made to help control the spread of COVID-19.”
