In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s halting of Biden’s workplace vaccine rule, about 1 in 5 businesses said they’re likely to reconsider their vaccine or testing requirement.
A “disappointed” President Joe Biden made a request of the nation’s employers this month after the Supreme Court delivered a blow to his coronavirus strategy when it blocked enforcement of his workplace vaccine requirement: “Do the right thing.”
Biden was asking companies to impose vaccine mandates of their own in the absence of the federal rule, which he called a “common-sense life-saving requirements for employees at large businesses.” And weeks after the Supreme Court’s decision, many have yet to weigh in.
“The Court has ruled that my administration cannot use the authority granted to it by Congress to require this measure, but that does not stop me from using my voice as president to advocate for employers to do the right thing to protect Americans’ health and economy,” Biden said, calling on business leaders to “immediately join those who have already stepped up” by instituting vaccine requirements.
