‘A good day’: Roaring applause for Trump at White House after Mueller report released – By Steven Nelson (Washington Examiner) / April 18 2019

President Trump celebrated the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report Thursday, telling a crowd of wounded veterans that “I’m having a good day.”

“It was called no collusion, no obstruction,” Trump said, receiving roaring applause in the East Room of the White House. “There never was, by the way, and there never will be.”

Trump arrived a half hour late to the Wounded Warrior Project event and spoke moments after Mueller’s report was publicly posted about 11 a.m.

Trump spoke only briefly about the Mueller report, saying: “We do have to get to the bottom of these things, I will say. And this should never happen. I say this in front of my friends, wounded warriors, and I just call them warriors because we just shook hands and they look great. They look so good, so beautiful. But I say it in front of my friends, this should never happen to another president again: This hoax, it should never happen to another president again. Thank you.”

Earlier in the day, Attorney General William Barr told reporters at a press conference that Trump’s legal team was allowed to read the 448-page document before it was published. Trump made no claims of executive privilege over its contents, Barr said.

Mueller found no evidence of criminal collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016, but explored 10 potential instances of Trump obstructing investigators, according to Barr. Ultimately, the attorney general decided Trump did not criminally obstruct investigations.
