Former Labor Secretary Tom Perez has had a bumpy ride since becoming chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He likened his job — reuniting a fractured Democratic Party — to “repairing a plane at 20,000 feet.”
During the race for chairman, the DNC effectively splintered. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) supported Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) while many Clinton allies backed Perez. But once it was all over, Perez had to find a way to make peace.
Toward that end, he immediately named Ellison his Deputy — and is currently touring the nation with Sanders at his side. But CNN reports that there may still be a long way to go
