BREAKING: Don Jr. Reportedly Reaches Deal With Senate Intel Committee for Interview – By Josh Feldman (Mediaite) / May 14 2019
It looks like the Senate Intelligence Committee has reached a deal with Donald Trump Jr. for him to come before the committee.
Last week, news of the committee’s subpoena to the president’s son broke, setting off a number of criticisms of Chairman Richard Burr from fellow Republicans.
Reporting yesterday indicated Trump Jr. had backed out of appearing before the committee over objections to the format.
Per the New York Times, a deal has finally been reached for a “limited” interview:
The compromise was an appearance by Mr. Trump in the middle of June, with questions limited to about a half-dozen topics, with the time no longer than two to four hours, according to a person briefed. Another person, who would not be identified, contested that the scope was of the topics had been limited.
Trump Jr’s lawyer was reportedly ready to sent a “blistering” letter to the committee saying he wouldn’t submit to “open-ended questions” from the committee “that included multiple Democrats running for president.”
