President Biden’s son Hunter has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and to enter into a “diversion agreement” over a firearms charge, prosecutors announced Tuesday. He is not expected to be given jail time for the infractions, which are embarrassing for the White House but fall far short of the crimes Republicans have insisted repeatedly the younger Biden has committed.
In court papers filed in Wilmington, Delaware, federal prosecutors said the younger Biden agreed to plead guilty to two counts of “willful failure to pay federal income tax” in 2017 and 2018. Biden has since paid the back taxes.
