Kentucky’s two Republican senators ended the year’s legislative session about as far apart as they began it.
On one side of the U.S. Capitol this week, Mitch McConnell stood before the press and heaped praise on the $1.7 trillion government spending bill, saying it fulfilled all of the party’s priorities.
On the other side, Rand Paul posed before the 4,155 pages of text with multi-colored warning signs blaring of “hazardous debt” that will threaten the country’s solvency and security.
“An abomination,” Paul called it just as McConnell declared he was proud of it.
