    Michigan, Ohio become latest states to issue stay-at-home orders – By Tom Henry (The Blade) / March 23 2020

    LANSING, Mich. — The stay-at-home order that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced for Michigan on Monday is the latest in a growing number at the state level.

    President Trump has so far declined to impose one nationally, saying he believes it is not necessary and that he would rather see states act on their own.

    Michigan’s announcement came on the heels of a stay-at-home order announced Sunday by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine for the Buckeye State. Ohio’s takes effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday.

    “Too many people are still out and about unnecessarily,” Gov. Whitmer said in announcing Michigan’s.

    Dr. Joneigh S. Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, said Michigan hospitals are “getting very, very sick people and our intensive care units are getting filled up.”
