Newsom hits back at Abbott for proposal to ban federal bailouts of ‘any’ state
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D- CA) hit back at Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) Wednesday for showing support for a Republican House member’s proposal to ban federal bailouts for states that give out reparations to its residents.
Newsom responded to Abbott’s tweet, where the Texas governor supported both the Republican House member’s proposal and also for banning federal bailouts for all states, with a graphic that showed Republican states receive more federal government funds from the government than Democrat states
“Well, this is awkward…,” Newsom tweeted, posting a graphic from MoneyGeek that estimates seven out of 10 states most dependent on federal government funds are considered red states.
