Owners of Tesla’s brand new $80,000 Cybertrucks are complaining of ‘orange rust marks’ – By Stephen Council (SFGate) / Feb 17, 2024

The blemishes surprised owners of a car meant to be indestructible, but they’re not actually too hard to clean away for good

Some Tesla Cybertruck owners in California are finding that when their new $80,000 vehicles get wet, tiny orange and gray marks show up on the cars’ steel exteriors.

The first Cybertruck deliveries arrived only in late November, making the blemishes an unwelcome find for customers. And they’re especially surprising because Tesla’s website advertises the car’s exterior as an “ultra-hard stainless-steel exoskeleton” that “helps to reduce dents, damage and long-term corrosion.” (Elon Musk has even claimed that when he blasted a Cybertruck with a submachine gun, no bullets broke through.)

Three users in California on the forum Cybertruck Owners Club complained about the blemishes earlier this month. One, who goes by Alex, called them “an orangish tint and spots” in a Feb 8 post.
