Donald Trump demanded Joe Biden take a drug test before the presidential debates after he noticed the former vice president’s improved performances during the Democratic primaries against Bernie Sanders.
It came as NBA teams announced a boycott of the playoffs in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake. Federal law enforcement and the National Guard will be deployed to Wisconsin following three nights of violence in the wake of the shooting.
As the Republican National Convention enters its third night, Kamala Harris was announced to be the main counter to Trump’s final night speech on Thursday, in which she plans to condemn the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The White House, meanwhile, said that the president is considering executive action to bail out airlines if Congress doesn’t reach a new coronavirus stimulus package. In a sombre address to the Republican National Convention (RNC), Melania Trump told Americans fearful amid the pandemic that “you’re not alone”.
