Seattle Police arrest fire department employee for threats to Seattle City Council member – By Callie Craighead (Seattle P-I) / Feb 12 2021
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) announced Friday that they arrested a Seattle Fire Department employee for multiple felonies including allegedly making threats to a Seattle City Council member through email.
SPD stated that the 42-year-old employee was arrested for “cyberstalking, computer trespass, and identity theft” discovered during an investigation into email threats being sent to a council member.
While the council member was not named in the police statement, District 3’s Kshama Sawant publicly called for a city investigation into email threats she was receiving in January.
The series of emails, sent from an official Seattle Fire Department employee email account, began in Dec. 2020 with death threats to leave Seattle, reading: “If you need help leaving, try jumping head first off the top floor of your building. I’ll even come push you.”
