Russia claims that phase three trials of Sputnik V have shown it to be 92% effective against COVID-19.
A SOUTH KOREAN biotechnology company and the Russian Direct Investment Fund have entered into an agreement to produce more than 150 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.
The fund said Friday that it has partnered with GL Rapha to produce 150 million doses per year and distribute them globally.
Production will begin in December in South Korea, India, Brazil and China, among other countries, with distribution starting in January.
Russia claims that phase three trials of Sputnik V have shown it to be 92% effective against COVID-19 based on 20 confirmed virus cases split between people who received the vaccine and those who received a placebo. The Russian Direct Investment Fund in a press release calls Sputnik V “the world’s first registered vaccine against the novel coronavirus infection.”
