Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw apologizes for calling GOP colleagues ‘terrorists’ – By Kennedy Sessions (Houston Chronicle) / Jan 9, 2023
The congressman said he used the word as a ‘turn of phrase’ after House disagreements.
On Sunday, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Houston, retracted previous statements he made last week where he called his Republican colleagues “terrorists” after refusing to vote for California Rep. Kevin McCarthy for U.S. Representatives Speaker of the House.
In an interview with CNN Anchor Jake Tapper on “State of the Union,” Crenshaw said he used the term as a “turn of phrase” and didn’t mean to call his colleagues actual terrorists.
“Look, things get heated, and things get said,” Crenshaw said. “I don’t want them to think I actually believe they’re terrorists. It’s clearly a turn of phrase that you use in what is an intransigent negotiation.”
