On his Fox News show this week, Tucker Carlson addressed what he suggested is the most egregious and “obvious” college admission scandal: the steady stream of “the offspring of prominent Democrats” flowing into Ivy League schools — among them four of Al Gore’s children, who all enjoyed admission into Harvard, the son of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who got into Yale, and CNN host and gym enthusiast Chris Cuomo, son of the former governor of New York.
Carlson led off his monologue by focusing on Cuomo. As footage of Cuomo working out played in the background, Carlson asked: “How exactly did Chris Cuomo — who ‘can barely speak English’ — get into Yale?”
“Is Chris Cuomo a secret genius? Does he have some amazing talent that’s invisible on TV? Maybe he speaks flawless Urdu? Or has a deep grounding in particle physics? Or can calculate pi to the final digit?” said Carlson. “Actually, no. Chris Cuomo can’t do any of that. It turns out that he has an even more impressive qualification: His father was the governor of New York. If you want to get into a top American college, it’s best to have a parent who’s a well-known Democratic politician. That’s the most effective credential of all.”
Carlson then rattled off a list of children of Democratic politicians who have all managed to get into exclusive schools, including the kids of DeBlasio, Sens. Michael Bennett, Amy Klobuchar, Sheldon Whitehouse, Bob Menendez, Chuck Schumer, and, of course, former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
