Texas pregnancy center planning $10 million, 20,000 square-foot waterfront expansion – By Dan Carson (Chron) / Aug 1, 2022

The Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend in Corpus Christi will rely on state funding for major renovations that will bring a coffee bar and spa-like atmosphere to its operations steering women away from abortions.

A South Texas crisis pregnancy center is slated to become one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. thanks to new renovations funded by state dollars.

On Sunday, the Washington Post’s Caroline Kitchener and Beth Reinhard published a feature covering the extensive plans to remake and expand operations at the Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend, a crisis pregnancy center in Corpus Christi, Texas ran by Executive Director Jana Pinson.

The center is one of thousands non-medically-licensed facilities across the U.S. with a central mission of steering pregnant women away from abortions and toward carrying unborn children to term. This particular center, according to the Post’s report, could set the tone for others like it in the post-Roe era following a dramatic, $10 million expansion to a new location next to the local Texas A&M satellite campus overlooking Oso Bay.

Architecture firm Chuck Anasto Associates posted renderings of the proposed facility to Instagram in March.
