Jake Davison: Gunman who killed five people should never have been granted firearms licence, inquest hears – By Reemul Balla (Sky News) / Feb 9, 2023

A firearms licensing expert said he would have rejected Davison’s application if he was privy to the gunman’s background of violent behaviour.

Plymouth gunman Jake Davison should not have had his shotgun or firearms licence returned to him, an inquest has heard.

The 22-year-old shot five people, including his own mother, in August 2021 before killing himself.

The inquest was told he shouldn’t have been granted the licence because of a flawed process when assessing his application.

Firearms licensing expert Supt Adrian Davis said there were far too many gaps in Davison’s original application for him to be granted the licence.
