The big news of the day: Former President Donald Trump has been indicted on 37 federal criminal charges related to his retention of classified documents after leaving the White House. It’s the first time a former president has ever been indicted in a criminal case.
The 49-page indictment against Trump was unsealed Friday and is full of stunning detail. It charges him with willfully retaining national defense information and conspiring with his valet, Walt Nauta, to obstruct justice and conceal his possession of classified documents from the FBI and a federal grand jury. Trump said he is “an innocent man.” He is due to be arraigned Tuesday in Miami.
