Former President Donald Trump resolved one of his many legal battles on Thursday after a New York county prosecutor closed a multiyear investigation into tax irregularities.
Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah closed her investigation looking into whether Trump and his company misled authorities to reduce taxes on owned properties, particularly his golf courses. Rocah did not file any charges against Trump or his company, the Trump Organization.
Rocah said in a statement via the Associated Press that she reached the decision after an investigation that was conducted “objectively and independent of politics, party affiliation, and personal or political beliefs.”
The investigation began in 2021 after Rocah suspected Trump or his company provided officials with misleading values to shrink the tax bill on his Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor. Rocah had subpoenaed records from the golf course and Ossining, the town that handles the golf course’s taxes
