A Pittsburgh neighborhood was evacuated Wednesday after someone who was reportedly facing eviction began firing a gun inside a home.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said its officers were serving an eviction notice when the occupant of the home began firing a gun Wednesday morning. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Manko noted that one of their officers suffered a non-gunfire injury while avoiding the shots, adding that the officer is OK.
Pittsburgh Public Safety urged residents to avoid the area in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. At about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, officials described the incident as an “extremely active situation with shots continuing to be fired.”
Police were evacuating homes in the 4800 block of Broad St. just after noon Wednesday, Pittsburgh Public Safety posted.
