Sources say texts may have included anti-Trump sentiments – By Michael Harthorne (newser.com) / Dec 2 2017

(Newser) – Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign has lost a former top FBI official, who is being investigated by the Justice Department for possibly sending anti-Trump text messages, sources tell the Washington Post.

According to the New York Times, Peter Strzok is thought to be “one of the most experienced and trusted FBI counterintelligence investigators.” But sources say during the 2016 presidential campaign, Strzok sent text messages about current events with potentially anti-Trump sentiments to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an extramarital affair. A spokesperson for Mueller says the investigation removed Strzok over the summer “immediately upon learning of the allegations.” The spokesperson says Page had already left the investigation by that time. Strzok has since been reassigned to the FBI’s human resources department.

PB/TK – Swift and just action even though we’re hearing about months after it happened.
