“If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S. then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams,” he tweeted.
“They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America!”
His comments come after 13 Russian nationals and three Russian groups were charged with multiple counts of attempting to interfere in the 2016 election.
The indictment alleges the goal of the Russians was to support then-candidate Donald Trump and hurt his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.
Some of the Russians allegedly posed as Americans and communicated with “unwitting individuals associated with the Trump Campaign and with other political activists to seek to coordinate political activities.”
Trump has repeatedly denied the notion that his campaign coordinated with the Russians to influence the 2016 race and has accused Democrats of improper collusion with the FBI.
There are currently multiple investigations into Russia’s election interference and potential ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
PB/TK – OK I admit I ain’t the brightest star however this sure sounds like acceptance that there was some sort of Russian involvement in US elections after months of denial. Hey the US gets involved in elections across the World, so why should we be shocked when it happens to us.
