Minnesota Republican rep drafts legislation to ban ‘The Bachelor’ from the state – By Aaron Colen (theblaze.com) / March 8 2018

Many fans of “The Bachelor” were apparently upset by the way the show ended. That includes one Minnesota representative, who used his legislative authority to draft a bill banning the star of the television show from the state, The Hill reports.

The power of social media?
“Bachelor” star Arie Luyendyk initially chose a Minnesota native as his winner of the show before breaking off his engagement with her and proposing to another woman.

Republican State Rep. Drew Christensen tweeted Monday that he would draft a bill banning Luyendyk from the state if he got 1,000 retweets. In just a few days, he got more than 11,000 retweets.
Wednesday, he posted a draft of a bill. Here’s what it said:

“The state of Minnesota hereby adopts a policy of zero tolerance of Arie Luyendyk, Jr., from season 22 of ‘The Bachelor.’ It is state policy that every person in the state has a right to live free from the presence of Arie Luyendyk, Jr. in the state.”

Christensen continued his social media stunt by offering to invite the scorned “Bachelor” contestant to the State of the State address if he got 10,000 retweets. He had fewer than 2,000 retweets on that post as of Thursday, as interest in his Bachelor-related governing appeared to wane.

Replies to the tweets included numerous people upset that an elected official was spending any time and using his platform to address the outcome of a “reality” television show.
