Fox news contributor Pete Hegseth launched a barbed attack at CNN host Don Lemon on Wednesday, labeling him a “moron.”
Hegseth, a Fox News senior political analyst and Fox and Friends co-host who has around 140,000 Twitter followers, tweeted he was “forced to watch CNN” while waiting at the airport on Wednesday.
Referring to the CNN anchor and CNN Tonight host, Hegseth wrote: “So clear—@donlemon really is a moron (who elites pretend is smart and insightful). Nothing he says is interesting—all liberal orthodoxy. #FakeNews.”

According to media news website Mediaite, Hegseth unloaded on Lemon as he addressed special counsel Robert Mueller’s filing on Tuesday which stated former national security advisor Michael Flynn should not be sent to prison for lying to the FBI.

Mueller said Flynn had offered “substantial assistance” to the investigation into alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential election and other inquiries.
The memorandum stated: “Given the defendant’s substantial assistance and other considerations set forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline range — including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration — is appropriate and warranted.
“The defendant deserves credit for accepting responsibility in a timely fashion and substantially assisting the government.”
Addressing the heavily redacted memo on Tuesday, former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti told Don Lemon on CNN: “What I think here is Flynn provided information that is allowing Mueller to make a criminal case against someone.”
He continued: “We don’t know who that is. We can speculate or not speculate. But there is certainly somebody out there who has a criminal case that could be coming.”

But Trump’s lawyer Rudy Guliani sought to play down Flynn’s role in the investigation. He said: “They don’t have bupkis,” according to NBC White House correspondent Hallie Jackson.
Last week, prior to the release of the sentencing document, Lemon suggested President Donald Trump of having a “meltdown” over Mueller’s investigation.
The president retweeted a mocked-up image which featured former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, former FBI director James Comey, Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, which accused them of treason.
The image was emblazoned with the words: “Now that Russia collusion is a proven lie, when do the trials for treason begin?”
Lemon said on CNN: “There’s really no other way to say this. No other way.
“The president of the United States is having a meltdown.”
“Yes, again. And the reason is very clear,” he added. “Robert Mueller is getting under his skin.”
