    An Air Force veteran who wanted to fight for ISIS and die as a martyr will be spending the next 35 years of his life in prison.

    49-year-old Tairod Pugh was sentenced Wednesday in a federal court in Brooklyn.

    Pugh was convicted last year on charges of trying to give material support to the Islamic State and obstruction of justice.

    Federal prosecutors say Pugh, who was an air force aircraft mechanic for 20 years, traveled from Egypt to Turkey in 2015 carrying a laptop with Jihadist propaganda videos.

    The New Jersey native’s conviction was the first of 70 cases the government brought against Americans accused of trying to help the terror group.
