More than 3,430 Spaniards have lost their lives to the novel coronavirus.
Coronavirus deaths in Spain have surpassed those in China as the number of victims totals more than 3,430.
While Spain has tens of thousands of fewer COVID-19 cases than China, its death toll reached 3,434 people as of Wednesday, compared with China’s 3,285 deaths, Johns Hopkins University recorded.
There are more than 81,660 cases of the coronavirus in China, where the virus originated, compared with 47,610 in Spain. More than 700 deaths and 8,000 new cases were reported in Spain in the last 24 hours.
The death toll in Spain is now second only to Italy, which has more than 69,170 coronavirus cases and 6,820 deaths.
