Six More Tied to Oath Keepers Charged in Insurrection Conspiracy – By Claire Hansen (US News) / Feb 19 2021
Prosecutors say the six worked with three other militia members in planning the Jan. 6 riot. Some are said to have used a military-style tactical formation to storm the Capitol.
FEDERAL PROSECUTORS have indicted six more people believed to be connected to the far-right Oath Keeper militia group for conspiring to plan the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, accusing the group of preparing for weeks to interfere with Congress’ certification of the presidential election results.
The six worked with three other people believed to be affiliated with the Oath Keepers who were charged last month, prosecutors said Friday. The group of nine is facing charges of conspiracy to commit an offense against the U.S., as well as charges related to property destruction and unlawful entry.
During the insurrection, seven of those indicted worked together to form a “stack” – a military-style formation in which individuals hold on to each other’s backs – in order to forcibly breach the Capitol building, prosecutors say.
Members of the group are also accused of communicating with other Oath Keepers ahead of the attack and of coordinating travel plans. Prosecutors say Graydon Young, one of those indicted Friday, arranged firearms and combat training for himself and others ahead of Jan. 6.
The Oath Keepers is an extremist, anti-government paramilitary group with individual cells in different states and localities.
