Marjorie Taylor Greene leads GOP call for firing of DC jail deputy warden overseeing Jan. 6 inmates – By Elizabeth Faddis (Washington Examiner) / December 16, 2021
Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and several other GOP lawmakers are calling for Washington, D.C., to fire a deputy warden who is overseeing inmates charged in connection to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.
In a letter posted to Twitter on Thursday, Greene and 13 colleagues, including Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, urged Mayor Muriel Bowser to remove the Correctional Treatment Facility’s deputy warden of operations, Kathleen Landerkin, from her position.
“We write to demand the immediate termination of Kathleen Landerkin,” the letter begins. “Deputy Warden Landerkin has demonstrated a consistent pattern of disrespect for Members of Congress and fellow corrections staff, in addition to displaying a public animus toward anyone who supports President Donald J. Trump.”
“Following a thorough investigation of her social media statements, actions, and endorsements, we are convinced that Landerkin lacks the objectivity and professionalism required of a law enforcement officer charged with overseeing inmates detained in connection with the events of January 6, 2021,” the letter continues.
