Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) accused Democrats of environmental hypocrisy Thursday when he explained his reasons for opposing President Joe Biden’s “Build back Better” social spending plan, which Democrats claim will cost “only” $1.75 trillion, but Republicans content will actually cost $4.9 trillion.
Sen. Graham noted that, even though Democrats say their plan provides tax credits for electric vehicle purchases because they want to protect the environment, Build Back Better provides the credit to only one vehicle, made by a political ally:
“They increase tax credits for electric vehicles. But, I think there is $4,500 of the $12,500, I can’t remember the actual number, that you only get if you buy an electric vehicle made by a union plant, and that gives you one choice – the Chevy Volt, I believe.
“We are making BMWs in South Carolina, they are making cars in West Virginia, so Build Back Better is offensive.
