Santa Barbara on the verge of declaring its Chick-fil-A a ‘public nuisance’ – By Fiona Lee (SFGATE) / March 10, 2022
Santa Barbara’s Chick-fil-A at 3707 State St. is one of the college town’s most popular fast-food restaurants. Customers on Yelp have given it a four-star rating, with one user calling it a “top tier chick fil a that only appears once in a lifetime.”
But the chain restaurant is on the verge of being designated a public nuisance. “The City’s Traffic Engineer, Police Chief, and Community Development Director have evaluated the situation,” a city report reads, “and believe that the persistent traffic back-up onto State Street is a public nuisance and that the nuisance is caused by the operation of a drive-through at the Chick-fil-A restaurant.”
Chick-fil-A regularly sees cars line up on State Street — one of the city’s major thoroughfares — to order the chain’s chicken sandwiches, nuggets and waffle fries via the drive-thru.
