GOP Senators Call For Cap On Payments to Former Presidents – By OAN Newsroom (oann.com) / Sept 13 2017
A GOP senator is looking to cut down on payments former presidents receive from taxpayers.
Iowa Senator Joni Erst argues the excessive perks are an unnecessary burden on taxpayers.
She introduced legislation on Tuesday that would limit the pensions and office expenses that ex-presidents receive.
Former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush are each expected to cost more than one million dollars in pensions and office equipment in 2018 alone.
The bill would cap the annual pension payment at $200,000 per president, and limit how much a former president’s office can cost.
“Our former presidents have book deals, they have speaking engagements and they are paid quite liberally in those areas, and the American taxpayer shouldn’t be subsidizing for these personal office spaces,” said Erst, “it’s time we do something about that.”
Reports indicate Obama is poised to become the most expensive ex-president during his first full year out of office

PB/TK – Is this gonna be like the time Congress wanted to limited Secret Service Protection for former POTUS’ only to rescind the plan a year before it was to begin. Sure there are 5 living former POTUS that would cost $5 million/year and I get it, every dollar counts, but isn’t there something as well within Congress that can be cut? Hey why not redefine the position to PART-time work since they’re in DC about half a month’s worth of time. Yeah that’ll cut their benefits as well just like normal folk. I’m sure there’s some pension “gifts” to be cut for them also.
