Dorsey Takes Responsibility for Twitter Layoffs

Jack Dorsey Apologizes to Twitter Employees – By Bob Cronin (Newser) / Nov 5, 2022

Co-founder says he expanded the company too fast

Jack Dorsey tweeted his regrets Saturday for the mass layoffs at Twitter, saying he expanded the company too rapidly. A day after new owner Elon Musk began cutting half of Twitter’s workforce, the company’s co-founder tweeted a message to the “past and present” staff, CNBC reports. “I realize many are angry with me,” Dorsey posted. “I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that.” Musk has said a major drop in revenue made the job cuts necessary.

Dorsey expressed faith in the employees’ resiliency, then posted a follow-up tweet saying he realized he might not be forgiven, per Yahoo News. “I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter,” he wrote. “I don’t expect that to be mutual in this moment … or ever … and I understand.” Dorsey, who left Twitter last year, has been supportive of Musk’s acquisition of the company.
