Juan Carlos Toscano Guzman made headlines for all the wrong reasons back in February when the Pharr Police Department accused him of hauling 700 gallons of liquid meth and tossed him in jail.
“This massive drug seizure impacts way beyond our region where it was headed,” Pharr Police Chief Andy Harvey said in a statement posted to the department’s Facebook page on February 16. “This stemmed from a patrol officer’s attention to detail when he observed something out of the ordinary and he used our resources to further investigate. This is great policing!”
Toscano Guzman spent six weeks in jail, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, for the haul which Pharr Police estimated to be worth about $10 million.
One problem: He wasn’t hauling meth at all.
