‘A tragedy beyond words’: A senseless murder on the Appalachian Trail 31 years ago – By Deb Kiner (Pennlive) / Sept 13 2021
In 2015, former Perry County District Attorney R. Scott Cramer told outsideonline.com that Geoffery Hood and Molly LaRue “were good kids.”
“They were going to make a difference. All the indicators suggested that. And to have their lives snuffed out at that age – it’s a tragedy beyond words.”
The young couple, Hood and LaRue, were through-hiking the 2,180-mile trail. Their trail names were Clevis and Nalgene.
Clevis and Nalgene spent the night of Sept. 11, 1990, at the Doyle Hotel in Duncannon – a popular place with Appalachian Trail hikers.
