As more eligible for vaccination, St. Louis County struggles to keep up with demand – By Rachel Rice & Annika Merrilees (St Louis Post-Dispatch) / January 18 2021
ST. LOUIS COUNTY — More than 172,000 people in St. Louis County have registered to receive a vaccination against the coronavirus, but the county health department so far has only received about 975 doses, county Executive Sam Page said Monday.
All of those doses were expected to be administered by the end of Monday. Additional doses were scheduled to arrive Tuesday but the number the county will receive was unclear, Page said.
Health officials are working to set up vaccination sites across the county to inoculate residents against COVID-19, he said. They’re in the process of selecting a first mass-vaccination site, which will be in North County.
Page urged residents to be honest about the information they use to register for vaccinations. Some have falsely claimed to be health care workers or brought along family members who aren’t eligible, he said.
