There were 127,544,730 total households in the United States in 2021, according to the Census Bureau. Of these, 1,209,462—or 0.9 percent—were what the Census Bureau calls same-sex couple households.
None of the 50 states had a number of same-sex couple households that accounted for more than 1.4 percent of their total.
