This is the second case – and first death – of the plague confirmed in China this year.
AUTHORITIES IN INNER Mongolia have sealed off a village after a resident there died of the bubonic plague.
The death occurred Sunday in Baotou City and the resident was confirmed to have the plague on Thursday, the Baotou Municipal Health Commission said in a statement.
The commission, which did not state how the patient contracted the plague, reported they died of circulatory system failure.
Authorities have sealed off Suji Xincun village, where the patient lived, and ordered the daily disinfection of homes. Following the confirmed positive test, a Level 3 warning was issued in Damao Banner, the district where the village is located, until the end of the year.
