CMA Awards hosts Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley mock Trump, politics-free zone – By Ariella Phillips (washingtonexaminer.com) / Nov 8 2017

Country Music Awards hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley mocked the politics-free zone that organizers declared last week.

Ignoring the guidance from organizers asking to keep the event about music, the duo played off of the lyrics to Underwood’s hit “Before He Cheats,” singing, “Maybe next time he’ll think before he tweets.”

The two noted President Trump’s feuds with Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., the National Football League, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.
“He’s probably asking Siri, ‘How in the hell do you spell Pocahontas,'” they sang.

The CMAs previously told reporters they could not ask questions about politics, a move met with a great deal of backlash, including from Paisley, who asked the association to “rescind these ridiculous and unfair press guidelines.” The association later walked back the restrictions and apologized.

The two also made fun of short-lived White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, crooning “Way Down Yonder On The Scaramucci,” and recently indicted former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, titling a fictional song as “Stand by your Manafort.”

On a serious note, the hosts opened the night by acknowledging the recent Las Vegas shooting, saying it’s been a tragic year all around. Last month, 59 people died attending a country music festival in Las Vegas. It is the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
