Heavy metal singer Dee Snider on Friday lashed out at supporters of former President Donald Trump who have co-opted one of his hit songs, saying the lyrics are antithetical to their beliefs.
“ATTENTION QANON, MAGAT FASCISTS: Every time you sing ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ remember it was written by a cross-dressing, libtard, tree hugging half-Jew who HATES everything you stand for. It was you and people like you that inspired every angry word of that song! SO F**K OFF!” Snider tweeted.
Snider was the frontman of Twisted Sister, a heavy metal group that enjoyed massive success in the 1980s. Their anti-authority anthem, “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” written by Snider, became an enduring hit. Snider has even endorsed the song’s use for Ukrainians protesting against the Russian invasion as well as by abortion-rights activists
After conservative politicians, including Trump, began using the song at campaign rallies, the singer stated he would never pursue legal action against them for use of the track, but would instead publicly voice his displeasure.
