Denver’s top chefs are holding a bake sale for Planned Parenthood – By Josie Sexton (Denver Post) / May 28 2019

Supporters can head to The Populist on Sunday for cookies, “doughffins,” babka and more

Chefs from 16 of Denver’s top restaurants will team up this weekend to show their support for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.

They’re throwing a bake sale party Sunday at The Populist restaurant in RiNo, making treats from black and white cookies to palmiers, and selling coffee and wine, with all proceeds donated to the nonprofit women’s health organization.

Organizers say the bake sale comes in response to “attacks on women’s health throughout the nation,” according to a news release. Late last week, Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit to overturn the Alabama law that would make illegal almost all abortions.

“Planned Parenthood is under attack and needs community engagement and support now more than ever,” Populist chef Theo Adley said in a statement.

“The top restaurants from across the Front Range are getting in the paint with The Populist to support women’s rights to their own bodies by selling fantastic baked goodies and drinks at what’s going to be a really fun party.”

The bake sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at 3163 Larimer St. Attendees can buy treats to go or eat them at the restaurant.
