Fauci Plans to Step Down in December to Pursue ‘Next Chapter’ – By Cecelia Smith-Schoenwalder (US News) / Aug 22, 2022Fauci said he is not retiring but will ‘pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field.’
Leading infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci will step down from the federal government in December to “pursue the next chapter” of his career.
“While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring,” Fauci said in a statement on Monday. “After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field.”
President Joe Biden said during his time as vice president he came to know Fauci as a “dedicated public servant, and a steady hand with wisdom and insight honed over decades at the forefront of some of our most dangerous and challenging public health crises.”
