Fox News legal analyst blows up GOP’s conspiracy theory about FBI agent’s anti-Trump text – By David Ferguson (rawstory.com) / Dec 13 2017
On Wednesday, Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano threw cold water on Republicans who are seizing on messages from an FBI agent who was removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as proof that the probe is invalid.
It’s wrong, he said, to call into question the results of an investigation that hasn’t even concluded yet.
“The only final decisions that have been made in this investigation are to seek two indictments, which they’ve obtained, and two guilty pleas, which they’ve obtained,” Napolitano said.
Deputy Attorney Gen. Rod Rosenstein, Napolitano said, “painted a very credible picture today” in his testimony on Capitol Hill. “I don’t know exactly where we are,” the judge said, paraphrasing Rosenstein’s remarks, “and if I did I wouldn’t tell you because it’s too early to say whether so-and-so’s political opinion affected the outcome because we haven’t reached the outcome yet.”
Anchor Harris Faulkner mentioned a text message between the FBI’s Peter Strzok and a woman with whom he was having an affair. Would this investigator not be a risk to the probe over all?
He continued, “The text message to which you refer occurred in August of 2016,” Napolitano said. “Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were running against each other. Bob Mueller’s investigation — indeed, the investigation into Russian involvement in the campaign — had not yet even started. So, the conversation is about, ‘What are we going to do if Donald Trump becomes president?’”
“It’s taken out of context,” he added. “We can’t tell what came before and what came after.”
