That’s his story and he’s more than sticking with it.
I would say that he’s doubling down on it. But he blew past doubling down in 2018 when he sent JEA employees a letter saying: “I HAVE NEVER stated opposition or support, in public or private, for privatizing JEA …”
Since then he has at least quadruple-downed, dismissing anyone who questioned his story and the potential sale of JEA, accusing them of, among other things, spreading “baseless conspiracy theories.”
