JCPS sues Purdue Pharma management group McKinsey over opioid epidemic’s impact on kids – By Olivia Krauth (Louisville Courier Journal) / May 5 2021
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky school districts are suing a management group that aided OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma, arguing the opioid epidemic cost districts and hurt children.
The Jefferson County Board of Education is suing McKinsey and Company on behalf of Kentucky’s 171 school districts in a suit filed in federal court Wednesday that seeks class-action status.
“The opioid crisis has created incredible challenges and unexpected cost for schools all across the country,” Ronald Johnson, the attorney for the school districts, said in a press release.
“The taxpayers have been footing the bill, and the teachers, and special education students have been paying the price for the greed of those who callously enriched themselves at the expense of our children.”
