Just After Santa Fe Shooting, Texas High Schooler Walks Into School With Gun in Backpack – By Sam Dorman (ijr.com) / May 21 2018
A male student reportedly entered a Texas high school on Monday morning carrying a firearm in his backpack.
According to KHOU, the incident occurred at Hargrave High School in Huffman. It’s located just a little over an hour north of Santa Fe High School, where 10 people died in a mass shooting on Friday.

According to school officials, they received a tip about the student and that he intended to harm himself.
Huffman School District said on Facebook that the school went into lockdown and that both the student as well as his backpack were taken into custody:

In an update, the school district said it was “proud” of the individuals who provided the tip and that it was safe for students to continue their day at school:

“We are extremely proud of the students who provided the tip, the high school administration for their quick and competent response,” the district said.
The incident came amid a broader discussion about gun rights, with many renewing their calls for reform after Friday’s shooting.
Some went so far as to call the NRA a “terrorist organization” and to say that anti-gun control politicians didn’t care about children.
Parkland survivor Cameron Kasky, for example, argued that President Donald Trump didn’t care about “you or your kids getting shot”:
