Kim Jong Un slams ‘passive and self-protecting’ economic agencies – By Thomas Maresca (UPI) / Feb 9 2021
SEOUL, Feb. 9 (UPI) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “sharply criticized” the country’s economic agencies for failing to aggressively set goals for the year during a meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea, state media reported on Tuesday.
The session commenced Monday to discuss implementing the five-year economic and development plans laid out at a major party congress last month.
In a report to the assembled party members, Kim “sharply criticized the passive and self-protecting tendencies revealed by the state economic guidance organs in the course of setting this year’s goals,” the state-run Korean Central News Agency reported.
After hearing Kim’s remarks, participants “reproached themselves for failing to apply the idea and spirit of the Party Congress” and for “not living up to the high expectation of the Party and the people.”
